Your clues

  1. Arlo brought the basket.
  2. Arlo visited Ashford.
  3. Nina visited Cedar.
  4. Nina brought the sketchbook.

Make the matches

Tap a square to mark yes (✓), no (×), or clear it. A confirmed match rules out the rest of its row and column.

What this puzzle is about

The Train Journey follows three travelers, Arlo, Alma, and Nina, each carrying one item (a scarf, a sketchbook, or a basket) and getting off at a different stop: Ashford, Briar, or Cedar. The question is simple: who carried what, and where did each traveler stop? Four clues give you everything you need, and there is exactly one answer.

Who it suits

It is one of the gentlest grids in the archive: an easy 3 × 3 × 3 board where all four clues are direct statements. That makes it ideal for complete beginners, younger solvers, or anyone teaching someone else how the ✓ and × marks work. Once two travelers are fully placed, the last one falls into place by elimination, which is the core idea behind every logic grid.

How to start

Take the two clues about Arlo first and mark both ✓ squares, then cross out the rest of Arlo's row in each grid. Do the same for Nina. Before you fill in anything else, look at the blank squares that remain in each grid and ask what must be left over for Alma. Check that answer against every clue before you mark it.

How to solve this puzzle

Each person has one keepsake and visited one place. A yes mark eliminates the other options in the same row and column. Combine the clues until all three grids agree.
