Unscramble words with blank tiles
Type a question mark (?) for each unknown letter, up to two. The word unscrambler tries every letter in that spot, which helps in tile games when you hold a blank or when you know only part of a word. For example, C?T can find words like CAT, COT and CUT.
Example: unscrambling LANTERN
Enter LANTERN and choose Exact anagrams to find words that use all seven letters. Switch to All words to see shorter words, too. LANTERN has no other seven-letter anagrams in our default list. From the same letters you can still find shorter words such as:
- 6 letters: antler, rental, tanner
- 5 letters: alert, later, learn
- 4 letters: lane, near, rate, real

About these results
Default results come from common American and English entries in SCOWL (Spell Checker Oriented Word Lists), sizes 10–50—everyday spell-check vocabulary. Extended words adds less common SCOWL entries from sizes 55–70. Offensive and derogatory terms are filtered from both lists. This is a general English word tool, not an official Scrabble or Words With Friends dictionary, so game rules may still differ. Attribution and license details are in the site's word-list license file.
