What this puzzle is about
The Forest Camp is a four-person deduction puzzle set at a woodland campsite. Iris, Cleo, Eden, and Nina each brought one piece of gear (a lantern, a compass, a mug, or a tent) and set up at one site: the creek, the clearing, the ridge, or the grove. Six clues lead to exactly one solution, and you never need to guess.
Who it suits
This is a hard 4 × 4 × 4 grid in size, but every one of its six clues is a direct statement, much like The River Picnic. There are no “did not” or connecting clues to untangle; the work is keeping three larger grids in step and finishing the last row of each by elimination. It suits solvers moving up from easy puzzles who want the four-person format without tricky clue types.
How to start
Three clues are about gear and three are about sites, so start by placing all six ✓ marks and clearing rows and columns. Notice that one camper is never named in any clue. In each grid, work out what is left over for that camper, then use the keepsakes-and-places grid to check that everything agrees.
How to solve this puzzle
Each person has one keepsake and visited one place. A yes mark eliminates the other options in the same row and column. Combine the clues until all three grids agree.
