What this puzzle is about

The Evening Fair is a short deduction puzzle set among the tents of an evening fair. Three friends, Ada, Ezra, and Sam, each took one prize (a bell, a puzzle, or a kite) to one tent: the red tent, the blue tent, or the green tent. Four clues lead to exactly one solution, and every step can be reached by reasoning alone.

Who it suits

This easy 3 × 3 × 3 grid packs three clue types into four clues: two direct matches, one connecting clue that links a prize to a tent, and one “did not” clue. That variety makes it a good last step before the hard four-person grids. It suits solvers who have done a few easy puzzles, families, and anyone who likes a little more reasoning in a small grid. It pairs well with the Evening Festival word search, released the same day.

How to start

Place Ada in the green tent and Ezra in the blue tent first. With two of the three tents taken, see what that leaves for Sam. Then add the bell-and-red-tent link in the keepsakes-and-places grid, and mark Ezra’s “did not” clue as ×. Look at Ezra’s row of prizes: how many choices remain?

How to solve this puzzle

Each person has one keepsake and visited one place. A yes mark eliminates the other options in the same row and column. Combine the clues until all three grids agree.
