The Museum Mystery

Match each visitor with an exhibit and a gallery. There is exactly one solution. Use each clue to match the people, keepsakes and places.

Your clues

  1. Miles brought the coin.
  2. Miles visited the atrium.
  3. Tess visited the archive.
  4. Tess did not bring the mask.

Make the matches

Tap a square to mark yes (✓), no (×), or clear it. A confirmed match rules out the rest of its row and column.

What this puzzle is about

The Museum Mystery asks you to match three visitors, Tess, Miles, and Rory, with one exhibit object each (a compass, a mask, or a coin) and the gallery they explored: the atrium, the east wing, or the archive. Four short clues are enough to pin down every pairing, and there is exactly one solution.

Who it suits

It's an easy 3 × 3 × 3 grid. Three of the clues are direct statements and one is a "did not" clue, so it is a good puzzle for practicing how negative clues fit alongside positive ones. It suits beginners, families solving together at the table, and classroom warm-ups where you want a puzzle that most players can finish in one sitting.

How to start

Start with the two clues about Miles. Both are direct statements, so you can place two ✓ marks right away and clear the rest of his row in each grid. Then turn to Tess. One clue tells you where she went, and the other tells you something she did not bring. Mark that × straight away; negative clues are easy to forget once the grid starts to fill up.

How to solve this puzzle

Each person has one keepsake and visited one place. A yes mark eliminates the other options in the same row and column. Combine the clues until all three grids agree.
