What this puzzle is about

Castle Tour is a medium word search that walks you through an old castle. Ten words are hidden in a 14 × 14 grid: the TOWER, GATE, HALL, COURT, and WALL, an ARCH and a BRIDGE, the STONE they are built from, a BANNER, and the KINGDOM beyond. Words run in straight lines in any of eight directions, including backward and diagonally.

Who it suits

This medium grid suits older kids, adults, and history fans who want a longer hunt than our easy 7 × 7 boards. Several words are short and share letters, which keeps the search interesting to the end. It pairs well with The Castle Tour logic grid and can be played online or printed for home or class.

How to start

Start with KINGDOM: it is the only word with a K, so find each K and check its eight neighbors for an I. Then look for the double N in BANNER. Be careful with HALL and WALL; once you find an LL, check which letter comes before the A.

About the words

KINGDOM is the longest word, at seven letters. BRIDGE and BANNER follow at six. Four words are only four letters long: GATE, HALL, WALL, and ARCH. HALL and WALL rhyme and both end in a double L, and BANNER has a double N.
