What this puzzle is about

The Lighthouse Visit is a short seaside deduction puzzle. Three visitors, June, Cleo, and Tess, each left one keepsake (a map, a shell, or a journal) at one spot along the coast: the pier, the lookout, or the cove. Your job is to work out who brought what and where each person went, using only three clues. There is exactly one solution, and you never need to guess.

Who it suits

This is an easy 3 × 3 × 3 grid, which makes it one of the best places on Riddle Lamp to learn how logic grids work. With only three clues, every one of them matters, so it suits first-time solvers, kids who are comfortable reading short sentences, and anyone who wants a five-minute warm-up. Our guide to solving logic grids uses this exact puzzle as its worked example, so you can open both side by side if you want extra support.

How to start

Begin with the clue that names a person and a keepsake directly: June brought a shell. Mark that square ✓, then mark × for June's other keepsakes and for the shell beside the other visitors. Next, notice that the journal clue never names a person. Record it in the keepsakes-and-places grid instead, and see what it rules out before you touch the people-and-places grid.

How to solve this puzzle

Each person has one keepsake and visited one place. A yes mark eliminates the other options in the same row and column. Combine the clues until all three grids agree.
